It's no secret that although the most popular room in your city house might be the kitchen,  a great deck is the main hang out spot for any hot summer day at the cabin.

Whether you're kicking back with a good book, hosting happy hour, or taking in your cottage's breathtaking view, your deck essentially functions as an outdoor every space. 

Although adding square footage on after the fact can turn into an expensive habit, making sure that your deck has ample space to comfortably host dinner and stretch out is an investment that pays off every day you manage to spend on Lake of the Woods.

For more tranquil experiences than your weekly dinner and drinks, some cabin owners opt for a master suite deck or patio as well. That decision may warrant a call to your designer or contractor though- it's a great addition as long as you aren't subtracting too much square footage from the main deck itself.
