Because of their beautiful aesthetic and appealing price tag, framed fireplaces are an extremely popular option among homeowners, builders, and designers alike. 

As they are so simple to build, framed fireplaces can offer a lot of variables. A large, open hearth is excellent for a picturesque view of the flames, but is slightly less energy efficient. Conversely, a smaller opening can be more easily engineered to effectively heat up your great room. 

If you plan on having a cabin that is open all year round in Kenora, many builders would suggest striking a happy medium between aesthetic appeal and heat-throwing energy efficiency.
