Ready For Winter: Prepping Waterlines

Whether you're closing up shop for the cold weather or hunkering down for a long winter of social distancing, the winter brings a multitude of potential pitfalls for any cabin owner. One of the biggest is about avoiding disaster when it comes to your waterlines and plumbing.

When figuring out how to stop your pipes from freezing, it's as simple as making sure that water can enter (through water supply lines) and leave (through drain lines) your cabin easily. For either, it's easy enough to make sure your lines are angled, insulated, and kept above zero degrees Celsius.

While you can hope that a subterranean drain line or insulated water supply line are good enough to keep your pipes from freezing, it's a big risk to take. That's why so many four season cabins use heat trace- a product designed to wrap around pipes to keep the pipes from freezing and bursting.
