Black Fox Classics: Ice Road Construction

Building a dream cabin in a Canadian climate presents a lot of challenges, especially in the harsh conditions of the Lake of the Woods area. However, when building on an island or more remote location, the winter offers opportunities to get more done faster.

With the help of an ice road, getting materials to an island site is actually easier in the winter, not harder. And while driving on a frozen lake may seem suspect at first, an ice road can actually easily support the weight of fully loaded trucks and dump trailers.

Now, with a little foresight and the bulk of our supplies already across the lake, our island projects can progress with as few pesky boat trips as possible once the ice starts to melt.
