Black Fox Classics: Winterizing Water Lines

With winter underway and our first big cold front upon us, there's no time like the present to review one of our older articles on how to avoid disaster and keep your plumbing in tact through the winter.

When figuring out how to stop your pipes from freezing, it's as simple as making sure that water can enter (through water supply lines) and leave (through drain lines) your cabin easily. For either, it's easy enough to make sure your lines are angled, insulated, and kept above zero degrees Celsius.

While you can hope that a subterranean drain line or insulated water supply line are good enough to keep your pipes from freezing, it's a big risk to take. That's why so many four season cabins use heat trace- a product designed to wrap around pipes to keep the pipes from freezing and bursting.
