Movin' On Up: Staircases and Walkways

At the lake, there's nothing better than taking in a beautiful, sweeping view. However, it's often the case that a bigger view of the lake means you're that much further from the water.

From a safety standpoint, a sturdy set of stairs is key. While they may not seem like an impressive feat of engineering, it's essential that your stairs and railings are to code, especially if there are younger cabin goers in the mix running up and down.

And while stairs may just seem like a way to get from the cottage to the dock, that doesn't mean they can't be beautiful. Any friends or family who boat over are going to see your staircase as much as they will your great room windows. 

For especially long flights of stairs, it might be worth it to turn one of your landings into a viewing deck- a great place for impromptu lifeguards or sunset aficionados alike.
