For many family members, the idea of a weekend on the lake varies wildly- whether it's curling up with a book, hanging out in the screened room, or hosting a happy hour. With an open concept however, all that matters is that the whole group can pursue their perfect weekend without having to split up.
Although older cabins tend to have multiple small rooms, a wide open cabin is much more conducive to allowing everyone their space without totally separating yourself from the rest of the family.
In the above examples, we combined the living, dining, kitchen, and sun room areas into one, seamless great room. Although the idea of smaller spaces may seem cosy, this room's natural wood and stone elements makes this open concept just as warm and inviting as a creaky cottage.
