Canadian Construction: Ice Roads

Building a dream cabin in a Canadian climate presents a lot of challenges. However, when building on an island, harsh winters can actually work in our favor.

With the help of an ice road, getting materials to an island site is actually easier in the winter, not harder. And while driving on a frozen lake may seem suspect at first, an ice road can actually easily support the weight of fully loaded trucks and dump trailers.

Now, with a little foresight and the bulk of our supplies already across the lake, our Island Addition project can progress with as few pesky boat trips as possible once the ice starts to melt.
